“Te conozco bacalao, aunque venga’ difrazao’”.
I had the pleasure of working on a couple of pieces for Squarespace’s “The Sound of Solidarity” Campaign for Latin Heritage Month 2020 on their social media channels. My role was creating two illustrations- one that embodied the phrase “the sound of solidarity” and one that would be a literal translation of a commonly used phrase where I come from. The phrase “Te conozco bacalao, aunque venga’ difrazao’” would translate in english to “I know you cod, even if you come in disguise” a phrase used in Santo Domingo when you want to tell someone “I know you well, you cannot trick me”.
